and why I would be honored to serve as a councilmember for District 6
The City of Vallejo is a multimillion dollar organization with unique complexities and history. As a Candidate, I understand how a business works, including balancing budgets. From living in District 6, I learned from direct experience how our city’s decisions impact some of our most vulnerable residents.
All business at City Hall is conducted through boards and committees. My experience working as part of a team taught me this is no place for the lone rider or dictators. I play well in the sandbox with others. Nothing is more ineffective or toxic at city council than people who can’t get along. My social skills are needed at City Hall. I may not agree with everyone, but I know how to respect everyone. And I am always learning from others – a trait of great leadership.
Courage to be honest and speak truth to power
I am willing to stand up for what is true and right even if I may not be popular when I speak the truth. I realize that I may not make friends with everyone, but I am willing to be open-minded and listen.
Planning, city building, urban design and entrepreneurship
While partnering with civilian and military communities, I learned the planning and development process and implications for our residents. Planning is the nuts and bolts of what makes our City work for Vallejo. I see a future vision for the quality of life in our city and understand the steps needed to get there.
Most importantly, I have humility, confidence, drive and determination to be of service and make a difference in our community.
Councilmembers have a profound impact on the lives and livelihood of thousands of People. I would be honored to receive your vote to serve.
